An initiative by 93.5 RED FM to PROVE DEAD MAN ALIVE

Santosh Singh, alive, but declared officially dead, filed his candidature for the current Presidential Elections merely to justify that he is still alive. This came to the notice of 93.5 Red FM Delhi. RJ Raunac of DL935, the evening show, helped him by giving a platform to voice his story to the Government Officials so that he can validate being alive.

Santosh has been fighting for years now, but failed in his attempt every time he tried to officially prove himself alive. He had even tried to approach the Uttar Pradesh CM and Prime Minister for this, but in vain. And, for the last 6 months, he was protesting at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.

Red FM believed that the lakhs of listeners hearing his story on the station will empathize with him. In fact, hundreds of listeners met Santosh at various touchpoints with RJ Raunac.

Going a step further Raunac went to Lucknow with Santosh, and got him an appointment with the Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav who has assured to resolve the issue very soon. This is unprecedented in the 9 long years Santosh has had to run from pillar to post trying to validate that he is alive.

Given below is the official statement given by Mr. Rajender Chowdhry, the spokesperson of Samajwadi Party:

“Shri Akhilesh Yadav has taken this issue very seriously. He met Raunac and Santosh Singh personally and expressed his sympathy and concern on Santosh ji ‘being declared dead’ and has promised Raunac that he would look into this matter personally and make sure that justice is given to Santosh Singh within 2 days. It would not have been possible without the initiative being taken up by Red FM. All the credit undoubtedly goes to Red FM for raising such an issue and bringing it to the CM office. I, therefore, would like to announce it to the people of Uttar Pradesh that, for all your problems, Red FM has become another strong medium to reach us”.

Commenting on the effort, Nisha Narayanan, Senior VP - Projects and Programming, 93.5 Red FM Network said – “At Red FM, we have always believed in giving back to society in some way or the other. Being true to our positioning - Bajaate Raho, very often we take up an issue which is affecting a common man & ‘bajaao’ it  till the concerned gets justice. Santosh Kumar’s case is one such example, where Red FM has taken up the case with relevant authorities and got the man closer to justice. I am extremely happy and proud of the Team at Red FM which worked on the case ceaselessly for the last 9 days, and finally made something feasible which had not happened in last 9 years for Santosh Singh. We have got him to meet the Chief Minister of U.P. Akhilesh Yadav, who assured us that Santosh will get justice soon. Red FM is truly a station for expression, and Santosh needed a platform to be heard. Also, such stories truly bring out the power of radio and its effectiveness in a market like India. Radio will continue to touch people's heart in more ways than one and we could not have done this had it not been for the strong support that we got on the same from our listeners. Red FM truly values and appreciates the support we got from our listeners.”

About Santosh Kumar Singh: He is 32 years old from Chittoni Village, Uttar Pradesh and is a cook by profession. After the sad demise of his parents, he left Varanasi and came to the city of Dreams – Mumbai, and claims he worked as a cook at Nana Patekar’s place.
