Giving utmost significance to the Asian markets Maxus has appointed Vikram Sakhuja, an Asian as its new global CEO, based in India as the agency becomes the first media network to run its global operations out of Asia reports Campaign Asia-Pacific.
With this appointment Vikram moves from handling the Indian and South Asian markets to taking charge of the bigger-broader-global portfolio replacing Kelly Clark. Also, Dominic Proctor has become the GroupM president with Kelly Clark, who will become CEO of GroupM North America and Rob Norman moves to the newly created position of chief digital officer for GroupM Global.
Maxus launched in late 2008 and has been the world’s fastest-growing global media agency network for the last 2 years (RECMA 2011).Comprising of a talented team of 1,400 people across 67 locations worldwide, and work for some of the world’s most well-known advertisers, including Barclays, SC Johnson, NBC Universal, Fiat Group, Nokia, Vodafone, Church & Dwight, Nestlé and L’Oréal.
According to RECMA these developments are an after effect of a strong performance by Maxus, which recorded total billings in Asia-Pacific of US$1.94 billion in 2011—a 22.4 per cent increase on 2010 levels.
Few more promotions of Ashutosh Srivastava and R Gowthaman at Mindshare earlier this year follow the news, but Sakhuja’s appointment is not part of a deliberate strategy to promote senior talent from India reports Campaign.
The agency is also a part of GroupM, the world’s largest media investment management group that serves as the parent company for all of WPP’s media agencies, and which buys over one third of the world’s media every day.
Vikram will switch to the new role over the coming months, with the search for a replacement for India and South Asia presently in progress.
This advancement proves to be an inspiring one for Indians and the Indian advertising-marketing fraternity. Maxus has always upheld the flag of creativity and now with this global shift the agency is all set to astound the very basic of the inventiveness culture.
